Commercial Portrait / Stock Photography (Santa Cruz) – Janet

Janet hired me to get some modeling / portrait photos of her in a couple settings in downtown Santa Cruz. The intent was to update her modeling portfolio, and we went with a stock photography-style approach with candid photos of Janet – working on her laptop, using her smartphone, etc. She’s absolutely stunning, so it was hard to take a bad picture during out one-hour session. Here’s some of my favorites, go to www.GoodEyePhotography.com to view all of them!

Danielle + Tony (Wedding Photography) @ Kohl Mansion, Burlingame, California

I last met Danielle and Tony during their romantic engagement session at Felton Covered Bridge Park and Loch Lomond. It was great practice for them leading up to the wedding day. Instead of meeting up with Danielle (typically us photographers meet up with the bride first), I met Tony and his groomsmen at Tony’s parents house. It’s not too far from the Kohl Mansion, where I’d meet up with Danielle later. Scroll down for the highlights of the day, or visit www.GoodEyePhotography.com to browse all 1,000+ photos.

Tony’s mom’s back yard made for some great groomsmen group photos. There’s the view of Kohl Mansion when I drove up. Pretty stunning sight.Bride Getting Ready, Dramatic - Kohl Mansion Wedding Photos

Kohl Mansion probably has one of the largest bridal suites I’ve seen. Anywhere. The downside? There’s no a/c – so if it’s a hot day (which this was), the fans do little more than blow the hot air around. I really love the window nook area – we got so many dramatic portraits here. You can see Danielle’s dress hanging here. I think the standing mirror is another nice touch.Bride Getting Ready - Kohl Mansion Wedding Photos

This light would be really challenging if I wasn’t using my own studio lights. I love natural light as much as the next guy, but it’s not always working for you.

The sun is at a dramatic angle for the bride and her father’s approach to the outdoor ceremony. Check out all those rose petals on the aisle!

Okay, so it was pretty windy this day. BUT Danielle rocked the long veil, adding drama to the photos, and a little extra work for the bridesmaids…Dramatic bride and groom outdoor portraits - Kohl Mansion Wedding Photos

Bride and groom formals time – again, rockin’ the long veil. There’s a neat little frog pond in the courtyard of Kohl Mansion, and a low, wide shot to get their reflection in the water worked well. Bridal Portraits in the Maze Rose Garden and Inside - Kohl Mansion Wedding Photos

The maze garden made for some great shots – as long as the dress and veil didn’t get caught on the rosebush thorns (!). We then moved inside the mansion for some formal (and goofy) bride and groom portraits.Cake and Flower Centerpieces - Kohl Mansion Wedding Photos

Look. At. That. Cake. And the table centerpieces. And the candy bar. I *love* the details from their wedding. Big props to Amy Burke Designs for her hard work!

I love kids. They just don’t care. They run around, throw sh!t and provide general entertainment for some, and headaches for their parents. But I’m there to capture it all. I love the shot of the kids throwing rose petals in the air. Then I was tracking the ring bearer as he ran across the courtyard… and slipped. This shot is right before rear met cobblestone. Don’t worry, he was uninjured, which is more than I can say for myself if I’d done the same!

Elegant, fancy, gorgeous. Kohl Mansion’s reception hall is a sight to behold, especially when decorated well. The room is even taller than it is long, with a second-story level you can look down from. I put my studio lights up there to help make the photos magazine-worthy, as bouncing from my camera’s flash was not gonna happen. My method worked really well for this venue.

I love the shot of the bride and groom dancing inside while I’m outside in the courtyard. Showing off my off-camera lighting? You bet.

It’s sad that cake had to be cut into, but for a second I thought Danielle was going to cut into something else 🙂

Some great action shots of the bouquet and garter toss! Plus, a view from above.

Some yummy shots by the bride and bridesmaids (or maybe not so good?), and I couldn’t resist getting ring shots at the candy “bar.”

More adorable kids. Tie-yanking dance moves. Outside night shots from the frog pond. Cool stuff.

The dancing and drinking made for an exceptionally fun evening. I hope you like the photos!

Jen + Steve (Wedding Photography) @ Eagle Ridge, Gilroy, California

Last time I saw Jen and Steve was when they met me for their Capitola Beach engagement session. They were a lot of fun that day, so I was looking forward to their Eagle Ridge wedding in their hometown of Gilroy! My associate Sam Fontejon and I met at Jen’s house that morning, along with two lovely videographers Aubrea Felch and Alex Wong. It was a media circus, but we all managed to capture our stills and video without too much crossing of streams. I then sent Sam off to hang out with Steve and the groomsmen. Scroll down for the highlight of the day, or click over to www.GoodEyePhotography.com to view/order all 1,000+ photos.

The rings weren’t available, but I did my best to shoot all the other details when I first arrived. I find that’s the best time, especially if most of the ladies haven’t had their makeup done yet!

The atmosphere was fun and lively, and the beverages were flowing (to ease the tension of course!).

Some hairstylist kung fu, and the bride gets strapped in!Bride Getting Ready in the Suite - Eagle Ridge Wedding Photos

We’re at Eagle Ridge now – the bride and groom are absconded to their respective suites across the hall from one another to finish getting ready.  Jen looks stunning in her dress and veil. Steve is also dressed to impress.Bridal Party Portraits - Eagle Ridge Wedding Photos

I arrange the guys in classic goose formation. I just made that up but it makes sense in my brain. These pre-ceremony bridal party formals were shot on the back patio of Eagle Ridge / Wedgewood where you can see the golf course in the background.Ceremony - Eagle Ridge Wedding Photos

Jen is escorted down the outdoor aisle by her proud papa. Steve’s eyes are tearing up seeing Jen in her dress for the first time.Ceremony at Sunset - Eagle Ridge Wedding Photos

A brief, but beautiful ceremony ends with a romantic kiss. Bridal Party Formals - Eagle Ridge Wedding Photos

Some wild turkeys try to get up in our stuff. So I shot them. With my camera. We proceeded with the formal bridal party portraits, sprinkled with a little Coors Light for effect.Bride and Groom Portraits - Eagle Ridge Wedding Photos

Steve’s Chevelle made for an excellent prop for these bride and groom portraits. The reflection shot is money.Bride and Groom Portraits - Eagle Ridge Wedding Photos

The veil over the groom’s head can be cheesy, but you have to remember, just because you’ve done it a thousand times, it’s their first time, and therefore totally appropriate (if not original). Also, some cute decorations.

Well-lit indoor candid portraits – my specialty.Toasts and First Dance - Eagle Ridge Wedding Photos

Beautiful toasts merge into the first dance.

I adore Steve’s mom’s face – she’s bursting with pride.Rings and Details - Eagle Ridge Wedding Photos

Some cool detail shots, and I get to photograph the rings finally. The pink/blue shot is one of the decorative led wall lights, and my second shooter Sam came up with the idea. I told him it wouldn’t work, but he tried anyway. So I tried. And wouldn’t you know it – pretty cool! Two brains are usually better than one 🙂Dancing - Eagle Ridge Wedding Photos

Some epic dancing before an end to the perfect day. Hope you enjoyed my photos.

Kim + John (Wedding Photography) @ La Mirada Museum of Art, Monterey, California

I met both Kim and John for their Capitola engagement shoot only a few weeks before their wedding. This didn’t leave much time for me to process all their photos in time for them to order some to use at their wedding. So I was amazed to see a faux movie poster (using one of their photos) on an easel displayed when I got there – something a graphic artist friend of theirs has put together. So cool! Below are what I consider the photos that highlight the day. Feel free to scroll down and peruse them (and my comments); or you can jump to www.GoodEyePhotography.com where you can order prints and view all 1,000+ photos!

La Mirada Museum of Art Wedding Photos

I met up with Kim at her house in Monterey the morning of September 29th, 2012. She’s got two adorable puppies (quite photogenic, don’t you agree?), and a fascination for bugs. Kim’s got these really neat bug sculptures that I secretly used as props when shooting her wedding jewelry. La Mirada Museum of Art Wedding Photos

After hair and makeup were completed at her house, we all left for La Mirada Museum of Art. My second shooter Sam Fontejon had been hanging with the guys, so he met us there as well. Nervous excitement filled the bridal suite as the dress and veil came together in one, beautiful package.La Mirada Museum of Art Wedding Photos

I staged a “First Look” for Kim and John in the little rose garden. I love doing these, because you can get both their expressions at the same time. If the ceremony is the first time they see each other, I have to swing my camera back and forth between them both (like a tennis match) and it’s just not the same. After the first look we took the time to get some bridal party portraits done; this way we have less to do after the ceremony and can get back to the party quicker!La Mirada Museum of Art Wedding Photos

Aww, cute kids + cute puppies = well, damn cute photos. La Mirada Museum of Art Wedding Photos

Jaw dropping gorgeous-ness going on here. Kim makes the dress look fantastic. The ceremony begins…

On to my favorites – the bride and groom formal portraits. I love walking around a new venue with a couple, exploring different environments and creative ways to light it. Thanks to my 2nd Sam for lugging around the lighting equipment!!La Mirada Museum of Art Wedding Photos

There’s a really cute little pond next to the museum, within easy walking distance. But I can see how it would easily be missed if you didn’t scout the location ahead of time.La Mirada Museum of Art Wedding Photos

John’s insanely talented brother made magic on the piano – a special piece he’d prepared just for John and Kim. The crowd was stilled to silence as soon as he started playing, mesmerized by the musical notes his fingers effortlessly dance out.La Mirada Museum of Art Wedding Photos

2012 is the year of Gangnam style. I will always be able to look at dancing photos from this era and know when that song comes on. Fun!La Mirada Museum of Art Wedding Photos

I haven’t had many “bridal exits” lately, but it’s always a great moment to capture when it happens. In their case, the crowd made a tunnel of sorts and threw flower petals on the couple as they left the reception. Great ending to the evening, I hope you enjoyed the photos.

Virginia + Noel (Wedding Photography) @ Stewart’s Cove Beach, Carmel, California

After braving through a super-windy engagement session at three-mile beach in Santa Cruz, I knew Virginia and Noel could handle anything nature threw at them on their wedding day. BothVirginia and Noel were getting ready in separate suites at the Monterey Plaza Hotel. It’s a luxurious venue with breathtaking vistas, not to mention the front-door access to downtown and Cannery Row. Once I met up with Virginia I immediately started with capturing the details – flwoers, jewelry, shoes, etc.Stewart's Cove Carmel Wedding Photos

After spending a little time with Virginia I went up to check on Noel was doing. He was hanging out with his dad, pretty much ready to go. I took some neat photos of a family heirloom pocketwatch that Noel had just received from his dad.Stewart's Cove Carmel Wedding Photos

Jade + Thomas (Wedding Photography) @ Il Fornaio, Carmel, California

Jade and Thomas are a really sweet couple who, when I first met them in person, insisted that they really wanted minimal, minimal shots of them. The most important thing to them was capturing great photos of all their friends and family. They are selfless souls, and really a true match for each other. I still managed to capture some photos of them, but also did my best to fulfill their desires. Renee + Zak (Wedding Photography) @ Saints Peter and Paul Church & Olympic Club, San Francisco, California

I had such a lovely time with Renee and Zak’s San Francisco City Hall engagement session that I simply couldn’t wait for their wedding day to arrive. They are such a cute couple, and I knew they’d have amazing details set up at the Olympic Club for the reception (I wasn’t disappointed). My talented second shooter Sam Fontejon and I met up with Renee in the morning at her parent’s house in San Francisco. There’s lots of little details and furnishings in the house that made it so much fun to capture details – jewelry, shoes, flowers, and of course that beautiful dress! Check out that “something blue” ring – stunning!Olympic Club Wedding Photos

The mood was relaxed but the excitement was building as Renee and her girls got their hair and makeup done. How about those wood cutouts of their initials? Too cute.Olympic Club Wedding Photos

Lauren + Graham (Wedding Photography) @ Private Residence, Santa Cruz, California

I think weddings are more about the people than any of the details or other hoopla that can make wedding planning (and budgets) skyrocket and get out of hand. It’s nice when a couple it like, “You know what? We’re throwin’ a big party for our friends and family, and we’re gonna get married at the same time!” Keeping that focus will help ensure the planning doesn’t veer too far from your goals. Lauren’s parents have an amazing property in the Santa Cruz mountains, where their garden is designed into different “rooms.” They did such a good job preparing it for Lauren and Graham’s wedding day – it just came out perfectly. Below is my virtual walk-through of the highlights of the say, so feel free to scroll down and enjoy the photos and my commentary. If you’d prefer to look at all 1,000+ photos, mosey on over to www.GoodEyePhotography.com. Katrina + Barry (Elopement Photography) @ Henry Cowell Redwoods State Park, Felton, California

You know it’s a small wedding when you, the photographer, are an official witness on the paperwork. Yup, it was just me, Barry, Katrina and their friend to officiate. We met at Henry Cowell park in Felton knowing we wanted to hold the ceremony somewhere along the redwood loop trail. After walking around for 15 minutes we found the perfect spot. I set up Katrina’s little point and shoot on my tripod to take video (for her mom), and we started the brief ceremony. There was a “Boo Yah” in there somewhere, which seemed totally appropriate (and funny!). After the knot was tied, we explored a little around the creek and railroad bridge for some romantic portraits of the two of them. They are a sweet couple, and I wish them the best in Ireland, where they live now. Enjoy my favorite photos from this romantic forest elopement below.

Lilly + Chris (Wedding Photography) @ Crowne Plaza Cabana Hotel, Palo Alto, California

My first shoot with Lily and Chris was back in March of 2012 for their engagement session in Uvas Canyon County Park which is south of San Jose and north of Morgan Hill. Lilly is a petite girl, but has a powerful presence; she vivacious and fun-loving, and I imagine as long as you stay on her good side all will be well with the world. People are drawn to this couple, so it comes as no surprise that they each had 8 bridesmaids/groomsmen – which basically means insane, non-stop party all day. I’ll describe all the fun moments in the captions for the photos below – my favorite pics that I feel capture and tell the story of the day. Read on for the cliff-notes version, or jump over to www.GoodEyePhotography.com if you’d prefer to sift through hundreds of photos on your own. Enjoy!

Palo Alto Crowne Plaza Cabana Wedding Photos

Come September, the big day had arrived. I met Lilly in her suite at the Crowne Plaza Cabana Hotel in Palo Alto where everyone was staying, and where the reception would be later in the evening. Lilly was cool and relaxed, and ready to make funny faces for the camera. The bridesmaids all had matching deep purple dresses that were simply killin’ it. Check out the custom wine glasses Lilly made for each bridesmaid – just more evidence of the fun coming our way…Palo Alto Crowne Plaza Cabana Wedding Photos

With 8 girls, one is bound to be into weightlifting, so of course there was a little arm-wrestling going on as the pack determined the alpha-female ranking. Doesn’t Lilly look lovely in that dress? I love it. Hair looks awesome, and she looks so excited to get going!Palo Alto Crowne Plaza Cabana Wedding Photos

I catch Chris at the elevator, but he doesn’t sneak a peek like a good boy. I get a few nice bridal portraits while we wait for the limo-bus to show up. Not shown: Lilly leaving her main bouquet in the lobbyPalo Alto Crowne Plaza Cabana Wedding PhotosPalo Alto Crowne Plaza Cabana Wedding Photos

Here we are at the ceremony in the beautiful St. Joseph’s Cathedral in downtown San Jose. They had a full Catholic mass; this church can hold a ton of people! Palo Alto Crowne Plaza Cabana Wedding Photos

Everyone holding hands was a nice touch. A quick kiss and the ceremony was over. We all got on the limo-bus and headed to Target. Yes, that Target. We needed some booze for the ride! We had 2-3 hours to kill before the reception started in Palo Alto, and we needed some juice to tide us over for the trip to Foothills Park for some Bridal Party formals. I had to follow the newly married couple into Target for a few candids. We lasted exactly 45 seconds before being politely asked to GTFO.Palo Alto Crowne Plaza Cabana Wedding Photos

The party officially started once we all left Target and hopped back on the party bus. Chris popped open some champagne – successfully (and completely) hosing down our driver in the process. At least we weren’t driving yet. I don’t think he was too happy about it, but didn’t let it show – good man. Lily and Chris cuddle up and show off some attitude for the camera.
Palo Alto Crowne Plaza Cabana Wedding Photos

We successfully made it to Foothills Park. While technically a part of Palo Alto, it’s really up in the Los Altos foothills – almost up to the summit. Luckily I’d just been there a couple weeks before for an engagement session, so I knew where to go. Usually shooting this many people in a bridal party can get pretty stressful, but everyone was a ton of fun and receptive to pretty much anything I wanted to do. I love, love, love the bridesmaid shot above where they look like a girl-band. Tons of attitude in there. I also took a lot of individual photos of each bridesmaid with the bride which really brought out each of their personalities. Love it.Palo Alto Crowne Plaza Cabana Wedding Photos

Oh man, the best groomsman/groom shot – one of Chris’ friends is obviously a bodybuilding enthusiast. He turned to Chris and was link “I’m gonna have to touch your junk for this” before he picked Chris up and held him above his head. I was definitely not gonna miss that shot! We also have a jumping bride and groom shot that looks exactly like the one they did in their engagement session – too cute!Palo Alto Crowne Plaza Cabana Wedding Photos

Another favorite groomsmen photo – I had them all arranged in a v-pattern, then I think Chris opened a jacket a little, which gave me an idea. So I had them all open their jackets, and named this pose “flock of geese.” Has it been done before? Oh, I’m sure – but I’ve never seen it, and it evolved naturally for us on this day. And it’s awesome. Next, my second shooter Sam Fontejon went out on the dock and hailed down a couple who were rowing in their rented boat, minding their own business. Before they knew it, we’d borrowed the boat for Lilly and Chris to have a little ride on. Miraculously neither of them got wet and we got some killer photos in the process. Thanks to the random couple who helped us out!!Palo Alto Crowne Plaza Cabana Wedding Photos

Back on the bus and we’re shifting into 4th gear and feelin’ good. I love the top shot of Lilly lap-dancing on Chris. I don’t know why, but the Star Wars light-saber scene on the tv behind them just bring it all together.Palo Alto Crowne Plaza Cabana Wedding Photos

We’re finally back to the Crowne Plaza Cabana Hotel in Palo Alto where the guests are enjoying cocktails and appetizers on the outdoor patio.Palo Alto Crowne Plaza Cabana Wedding Photos

This DJ was just killin’ it, getting everyone riled up and ready to party. He busted out costumes and props so the bridal party could make an epic entrance to the reception hall. Palo Alto Crowne Plaza Cabana Wedding Photos

Alyssa + Paul (Wedding Photography) @ The Outdoor Art Club, Mill Valley, California

I had a really great time with Alyssa and Paul during their streets of San Francisco engagement shoot; I knew their wedding at the Outdoor Art Club in Mill Valley would be a blast. The photo boards below show my favorite photos from their Jewish wedding and reception – so scroll on for the highlights of the day. If you’d prefer to simply browse the 1,000 wedding photos, I invite you to visit www.GoodEyePhotography.com to view and order prints.

Alyssa is such a classy gal, having great taste and exudes style and poise. I met her and her friends at their expansive suite in the Hyatt Regency in downtown San Francisco. The decor was inspiring me for all the little detail shots. How about that shoes shot with the buildings and clouds in the background? There was only a 15-story drop for the shoes a couple inches away – good thing there was no wind.

Leaving the Hyatt, we crossed the Golden Gate and headed to Mill Valley where Alyssa would get the dress on. The Outdoor Art club has a convenient bridal suite behind the stage where the girls could put the finishing touches on. I love the water bottles with straws to keep from having to re-apply lipstick every couple minutes.

Paul looking handsome in his suit, hanging with his buddies in the not-as-fancy groom’s staging area. Also, the Ketubah, or Jewish prenuptial contract, is ready to be signed.

I staged a first-look for them to see each other for the first time in full wedding garb. I love first looks, as it gives me a chance to capture both of their expressions when seeing each other for the first time. Plus, we can transition to bride and groom formals to help the post-ceremony formals go much faster.

The Outdoor Art Club has a beautiful property with lots of trees and plants to incorporate into the photos. I was able to do bridal party and family photos before the ceremony as well.

The guys hold the bouquets for a photo, and the couple is ready to sign the Ketubah. Serious stuff people!

Here are a few details in the reception room – all dark, polished wood provides a warm, inviting atmosphere.

Paul successfully smashes the glass with his foot and it’s time to bustle the dress and start mingling!

Toasts from the parents and maid of honor.

The Horah is a traditional Jewish dance where all friends and family circle the couple and dance, often elevating the couple (and parents) in their chairs. It’s a lot of fun and great photo opportunities present themselves if you’re quick!

Paul hand-built this custom wedding-cake topper that looks like a bridge. It was the perfect prop for their wedding rings!

Stephanie + Kevin (Wedding Photography) @ Felton Guild, Felton, California

I really luck out and get to work with the coolest couples with my job. During their Quicksilver Almaden Park (San Jose) engagement session, I got a chance to see Stephanie and Kevin’s personalities show through.  They are two peas in a pod, always smiling and joking around. They decided to get married at Felton Guild, which is a neat property in Felton (same place as Oak Tree Ristorante) sporting large open greens and an intimate redwood circle grove for the ceremony. Below is a collection of the best wedding photos that I feel tell the story of the day. If you’d like to see all of Stephanie and Kevin’s Felton Guild wedding photos, please visit www.GoodEyePhotography.com.

Details of the wedding site @ Felton Guild. Love the wide angle looking up into the circle of redwoods where the ceremony is held. It’s the best circle of redwoods wedding site I’ve seen anywhere, mostly because it’s got built-in seating for everyone which isn’t typical.Felton Guild Wedding Photos

Jenny + Dimitriy (Wedding Photography) @ The Mission, San Luis Obispo & Cellar 360, Paso Robles

Last time I met up with Jenny and Dimitriy was for their Foothills Park Palo Alto engagement session, so it was great to see these guys again on their wedding day. They are good friends of my past clients Jared and Jasmine – who in fact were both in today’s wedding party. I love seeing past clients at future weddings, because  it means I’m doing a good enough job to get recommended to close friends and family. Jenny and Dimitriy’s ceremony was at The Mission in San Luis Obispo (where I went to college), and their reception was at Cellar 360 winery (formerly known as Meridian winery) in Paso Robles. Below are photoboards and my own commentary that capture the highlights of the day through my favorite photos. Scroll down to continue the story, or jump to www.GoodEyePhotography.com if you’d like to view all 1,000+ photos.

Cellar 360 Wedding Photos - Mission San Luis Obispo Wedding Photos

It was hot, hot hot – but clear and beautiful on this August day. I drove out to the middle of nowhere in Bradley, CA to meet up with Jenny and her entourage. They seemed to be recovering from the night before, but in high spirits and ready to take on whatever the day had for them.Cellar 360 Wedding Photos - Mission San Luis Obispo Wedding Photos

I love the big mirror on the floor for the ladies to get ready in front of. Inventive! Jenny sheds some tears reading a card from her sweetie. Cellar 360 Wedding Photos - Mission San Luis Obispo Wedding Photos

I met up with Dimitriy and his 8 groomsmen at Cellar 360 winery. I thought it would be a cool shot to have each guy on a barrel of wine. I thought to ask for permission, but then figured asking for forgiveness may be the better option. It made for a killer shot, even though I may not be welcome back… The SLO trolley picked us all up to take us to the Mission in San Luis Obispo. That was… a crazy ride. Here you can see Dimitriy doing a little pole-dancing. The driver was totally awesome, and I’m sure used to the wedding party rowdiness.Cellar 360 Wedding Photos - Mission San Luis Obispo Wedding Photos

Jenny looking mighty gorgeous in her dress in her bridal suite at the Mission. That grin on her face says “Let’s do this!”Cellar 360 Wedding Photos - Mission San Luis Obispo Wedding Photos

The SLO Mission is a great little ceremony venue smack in the middle of downtown San Luis Obispo. There’s generally a lot of foot traffic in the area, especially during the summer like this day, so there’ no shortage of random well-wishers for the wedding party.Cellar 360 Wedding Photos - Mission San Luis Obispo Wedding Photos

Love that shot of Jenny and her dad walking down the aisle. He’s so proud, and she’s barely holding it together after seeing Dimitriy way at the end, waiting for her.Cellar 360 Wedding Photos - Mission San Luis Obispo Wedding Photos

Dimitriy picks Jenny up and swings her around after the ceremony is done. We get a few photos with their dog and of them alone.Cellar 360 Wedding Photos - Mission San Luis Obispo Wedding Photos

Now the whole wedding party is on the trolley, ready to head back to Cellar 360 for the reception. Wait, I think we’re missing a couple guys… Cellar 360 Wedding Photos - Mission San Luis Obispo Wedding Photos

We arrive at Cellar 360, and use the trolley as a prop for a few photos of the entire wedding party. Cellar 360 Wedding Photos - Mission San Luis Obispo Wedding Photos

The Cellary 360 grounds have plenty of opportunities for bridal party and bride/groom photos. Did I mention how hot it is? Cellar 360 Wedding Photos - Mission San Luis Obispo Wedding Photos

A few more shots of just the bride and groom, this time wandering into the vineyard a little for some romantic photos.Cellar 360 Wedding Photos - Mission San Luis Obispo Wedding Photos

The bridal party is announced inside the main banquet hall. This is a large space, as you can see, and thankfully I’ve set up three powerful strobes in specific locations behind the barrel walls to help me create my unique, magazine-style, well-lit candid photos.

Didn’t I see a spoon pirate at the last wedding? Must be “a thing.” A few toasts, and the candid-shots begin.Cellar 360 Wedding Photos - Mission San Luis Obispo Wedding Photos

Everyone dances, and the bride and groom exit under a tunnel of well-wishing spirit-fingers. Congratulations Jenny and Dimitriy!

Rachel + Ryan (Wedding Photography) @ Saratoga Springs, Saratoga, California

Fun, fun FUN couple alert! After bringing their dirtbikes to their Vasona Park engagement session, Rachel and Ryan were ready to tear it up for their wedding at Saratoga Springs in Saratoga, California. Being of the heritage, Ryan was in full-Scottish garb – Kilt, Sporran (the man-purse thing), and of course the wicked blade strapped to his leg. It’s a good thing Ryan is such a nice guy, I definitely wanted to keep on his good side. Whether or not he was going commando – you’d have to ask his groomsmen since he gave ’em a peek. Keep scrolling down to review the best photos of the day – the highlights I feel capture the spirit of the event. If you’d like more, feel free to visit www.GoodEyePhotography.com. Thanks!

As if the color of those shoes weren’t enough – they needed a little bedazzle-bling of course! I met Rachel and her ladies at the Saratoga Inn where they were getting ready for the wedding. This is a great time to shoot details and candids.

The orange walls made the images *pop* – although these ladies had enough personality to bring the photos to life as it was.

There’s Ryan sportin’ the sporran (and an IPA). Lookin’ good my man, just be careful with that blade! Rachel is done up and looking great!

We stage a First Look on the bridge that connects the Saratoga Inn property to Wildwood Creek park. So cute… then we moved further into the park for some wedding party formals before heading to Saratoga Springs for the ceremony.

Ryan shows off his sassy side – what’s he think he’s a bridesmaid? Work it…

Avert yer eyes! Noooo!!! These are great.

One of the most awesome dessert/cake spreads ever, designed by Nothing Bundt Cakes. Get it? Got it. Ryan’s friend plays the bagpipes while the guests show up. The sun is setting through the trees and the excitement is quickly building.

Everyone is settled and the ceremony begins. Wide grins abound.

Amazing forest backdrop for the ceremony.

Think they’re excited to tie the know? Indeed. Let the party begin! Oh look, five kisses coming my way!

Oh you know, it’s just my commuter-Bentley. Nice ride! I walk around with Rachel and Ryan looking for interesting environments for their bride and groom portraits. I only had about 15 minutes, so I had to make each setup count! My favorite is on top of the boulder in the creek.

We’re back!! I didn’t steal them for long!

Funny and heart-felt toasts, so special. Tears, laughter. All good.

How about that ring-bearer’s t-shirt? Ring Security. Classic! First dances begin.

Time to toss the bouquet and garter!

A surprise bagpipe performance by the groom. I loooove the silhouette shot of Ryan with everyone watching.

Such lovely flowers, and the real wood stumps that act as bases for the cakes were a nice touch. I don’t know if the forest around us would agree, but trees can’t talk, so…

For the last song, sparklers were handed out and it created this surreal, truly epic series of photos when combining my off-camera lights with the ambient, warmer electric lights of the venue.

And they’re off in the Bentley  – congrats guys, I hope you enjoyed these photos!

Valerie + Mark (Wedding Photography) @ Mountain Terrace, Woodside, California

Last time I saw Valerie and Mark was for their Central Park Santa Clara engagement session back in May. They were a really fun couple to work with then, so I’d been looking forward to what they had in store for their wedding at the Mountain Terrace in Woodside, California. I met up with Valerie at Hotel Sofitel in Redwood City where she was getting ready in an expansive multi-room suite with panoramic views of the lake and city beyond. She and the girls were in high spirits and I enjoyed my time with them for this mellow part of the day. Tiia + Justin (Wedding Photography) @ Bargetto Winery, Soquel, California

Back in April I met up with Tiia and Justin for their engagement photos in Nisene Marks forest in Aptos. They were a little shy at first, so I’m really glad were were able to take the time to practice in a low-stress environment, where it was just the three of us without hundreds of onlookers. It was time well-spent, because when I met up with them on the morning of their wedding day, they were filled with excitement – and whether or not they’d get good photos was probably the last concern on their nuptial-addled psyches. The ceremony and reception both took place at Bargetto Winery in Soquel – scroll on for the highlights of the day, the photos I feel best represent the big and little goings-on. If you’d like to peruse all 1,000+ photos, I invite you to visit www.GoodEyePhotography.com.

The getting ready stage is a great time for wedding photographers to capture all the little details – jewelry, shoes, the dress, and anything else that you feel will remind the bride of her big day for years to come. I caught Tiia giving her sassy face, then took her wedding rings out to the grape grinder. She forgives me.Bargetto Winery Wedding Photos

There’s that money shot of the wedding rings “stuck” in the rusty iron gears of the grape-grinder-thing. The lighting was a little complicated, but the effort paid off in spades.Bargetto Winery Wedding Photos

Erica and Justin are not only a incredibly good looking, they really click as a couple. As you know, this recipe usually results in beautiful photography, and their wedding day is no exception. Rebecca + Ben (Wedding Photography) @ North Tahoe Event Center, King’s Beach, Lake Tahoe

I love travelling to distant and exotic places for weddings. Tahoe isn’t SO distant, but it sure seems worlds away from Silicon Valley. I was happy to capture the big day for Rebecca and Ben for their Tahoe Events Center wedding on the north shore. The day couldn’t have started out more chill – heck, I was wearing just my swim shorts and two big cameras on my hips. Everyone was hanging out on the beach playing in the water or collecting sun rays. Eventually we had to get ready for the ceremony, even though it didn’t seem like a typical wedding at that point.
